Professor Wardley accepts instructions as an Independent Expert Witness and Medical Adviser in Civil, Criminal, Employment Tribunal proceedings, including clinical negligence, personal injury, professional negligence, whistleblowing and other medico-legal matters.

He provides independent, impartial and evidence-based expert opinions in accordance with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules, Practice Direction 35 and the Guidance for the Instruction of Experts in Civil Claims. To enhance the service he provides, Professor Wardley has successfully completed the Bar Training Course (BTC), strengthening his understanding of litigation, expert evidence and court procedure.

His medico-legal practice includes expert opinion and advice on:

  • Whistle-blowing in the NHS

  • Public inquiries concerning systemic failures and the statutory duty of candour

  • Delayed, missed or incorrect diagnosis of cancer

  • Delays in referral, investigation or treatment

  • Breach of duty and causation

  • Prognosis, life expectancy and treatment options

  • Whether an alleged breach caused or materially contributed to the injury or loss claimed

  • Systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies and endocrine therapy
